Please note that all applicants are advised to consult the A101 Departmental Supplement to the Admissions Policy and appropriate guidelines prior to making an application. Dentists applying to the OMFS route should apply to year 2 of the A101 programme and declare in their personal statement that they which to pursue a career in OMFS.

WHAT ARE EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES?

Extenuating circumstances are circumstances beyond a student’s control which have affected their performance in assessments (whether an examination, essay, practical or other form of assessment). They may include:

• Bereavement – death of a close relative/significant other/close friend (of a nature which, in an employment context, would have led to an absence in accordance with the compassionate leave regulations)
• Serious short term illness or accident (of a nature which, in an employment context, would have led to an absence on sick leave)
• Evidence of a long term health condition worsening or of a change in a fluctuating condition
• Significant adverse personal/family circumstances
• Other significant exceptional factors for which there is evidence that performance has been impaired
